Tourism - Where are we going?
The Edinburg Convention & Visitors Bureau
must continue to be recognized as a viable entity, not only in the Texas travel
industry, but also as a marketing strength in the Rio Grande Valley. In order
to achieve this goal, there are many projects, programs and activities that need
the participation and support of the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce. In addition
to many projects that we must do on a daily basis to stay competitive in the marketplace,
the Chamber/CVB will continue to develop and innovative such projects and programs.
Marketing: Major emphasis will be placed on efforts to attract more interest
from markets; Winter Texan's, Wholesale Tour Market, Motor-Coach, Travel Agents
and Nature Tourism.
Although the marketing efforts are high priority on the state and regional meeting
market, major emphasis will be placed on securing meeting and events which will
occupy additional sleeping rooms in Edinburg.
A great deal of time will be devoted to increasing Edinburg, Texas regional, national
and international exposure. Additional emphasis will be placed on Canadian and
Mexican Visitor Marketing. Film Inducement, Sports Events Promotions, Hotel/Motel/Campground
Promotion and Festivals Promotion.
